Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel

The ice hotel in Sorrisniva is in the middle of the wilderness only thirty minutes from Alta Airport, located perfect to relax, spot the northern lights and enjoy the nature of northern Norway. All exterior and interior inside the hotel is made only by snow and ice; rooms, decoration and even the glasses in the ice bar. The hotel is about 2500 sqm large and has approximately 30 rooms including suites, ice gallery, and ice -chapel. Beautiful artwork created by talented sculptors from Alta decorates the hot el in a unique way every year. Along with the pure white snow it creates a fairy-tale atmosphere inside. The crew working along with the Igloo Hotel is locals and most of them have been with us from the start in year 2000. All together they create and brings their ideas together and makes a hotel we are proudly to present every new season!

Side by side with the Igloo hotel you’ll have access to our main house with our well known restaurant, living room and reception area. The ice rooms contain what you need for your night, which is a comfortable bed covered in reindeer-hides. The sleeping bag and pillow are kept warm inside the main house, until you enter the Igloo hotel for the night. F acilities like toilets, changing rooms, showers and sauna are also in the main house to ensure your comfort. The facilities are public and for you to avail during your stay.  Phones and computers can be charged here and your bags are stored safely in our luggage room.

How to sleep in the Igloo Hotel

A night in the ice hotel will give you a whole new experience and maybe take you outside your comfort zone! The temperature inside the hotel remain constant between -4 and -7 degrees, and you will feel the cold air around you, while sleeping in a warm and cosy sleeping bag. To ensure you will enjoy the stay with us we want to keep you as comfortable as possible. Natural reindeer-hides, mattress, extreme sleeping-bags and pillow will keep you warm and comfortable during the night, but the best preparation is done by yourself. Prepare yourself for a unique experience and bring with you  some warm clothing for the night. Woollen or fleece underwear is recommended for the best  comfort. The morning after we welcome you to start the day in our heated sauna, followed by our delicious breakfast buffet.

New breath-taking adventures

Concurrent with the Arctic Wilderness Lodge development Sorrisniva is continuing to broaden the adventures available to guests. These include the original summer riverboat and winter snowmobile safaris together with northern light tours, Sami culture tours, dog- and reindeer sledding. The new lodge is designed along the bank of the Alta river and includes expansive glass in both the public spaces and the lodge suites enhancing guests experience of the location and local environment including the Northern lights in winter.
